RGRTA Board of Commissioners Announces Officers for the Next Year
The Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) announced their slate of officers for the next year following the board meeting and annual meeting. At the end of the annual meeting and after 12 years on the Board and six years as Chairman, James Redmond submitted his resignation from the Board. The officers of the RGRTA Board of Commissioners for the next year are:
- Chairperson: Geoffrey Astles, Ontario County
- Vice-Chairperson: Paul J. Battaglia, Genesee County
- Secretary: Edward W. White, Seneca County
- Treasurer: Michael P. Jankowski, Wayne County
“It is an honor to be selected by my fellow Commissioners to serve as the next Chairman of the Authority,” said Geoffrey Astles, RGRTA Board Chair. “I thank former Chairman Redmond for his leadership and service to the Authority and know I have big shoes to fill. I look forward to working with the Board and the 900-plus men and women at RGRTA to build on the good work of the past year and continue developing a transit system that makes it easier for our customers to enjoy the ride.”
Chairman Geoffrey Astles was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2015 and serves on the Governance and Finance/Investment Committees.
Vice Chair Paul Battaglia was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2008 and serves on the Audit and Compensation Committees.
Secretary Edward White was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2006 and serves on the Governance Committee.
Treasurer Michael Jankowski was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2004 and serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee.
In addition to electing the aforementioned officers, the June 23rd meeting was the first for four new commissioners, three of whom represent Monroe County and one who represents Wyoming County. The new Monroe County Commissioners are William Faber, Don Jeffries, and Kelli O’Connor, and the new Wyoming County Commissioner is Rich Kosmerl. With the addition of the new Monroe County Commissioners, the Board expressed its thanks to former Commissioners Stephen J. Carl and Robert J. Fischer for their service and contributions to the Authority.
