Tech Industry Innovator Gary Wisgo Joins ETA Transit Systems
John Maglio, president & general manager of ETA Transit Systems Inc. has announced the appointment of Gary D. Wisgo as director of programs and operations.
Wisgo is an experienced senior executive with over 35 years of involvement in the management of technology and product development. He has achieved noted success in the areas of research and development, project management, and customer support. His successful process re-engineering work has resulted in millions of dollars in process cost savings.
Wisgo has held key senior and executive level positions in a variety of corporations including Office Depot, GeoFocus, EnerLook Healthcare Solutions, JTECH Communications Inc., CyLex Systems, Sensormatic Electronics Corporation, and IBM Corporation.
Prior to joining ETA, Wisgo served as senior manager, IT project management Office (PMO) at Office Depot Headquarters, where he managed a department of more than 12 project managers responsible for company-wide infrastructure projects, including application, end-user, network and data center upgrades, and warehouse projects.
Wisgo formerly served as CEO & COO for GeoFocus LLC, a provider of real time information systems specializing in Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology where he directed the restructuring of the company to support the implementation of two major public transportation contracts totaling over $10 million, which introduced a new generation of transportation information management solutions for public rail transportation.
At Sensormatic Electronics Corp, Wisgo was recognized for the management and development of an radio frequency identification (RFID) security system, implemented at the 1996 Olympic Games to protect athletes and coaches in the Olympic Village at Georgia Tech University.
While at IBM, Wisgo managed a research and development group with a $5.5 million budget that introduced leading technologies to IBM products resulting in his assignment as engineering manager of the design and development of the first smartphone. A recipient of the IBM Management Excellence Award, he holds a patent on a keyboard and touch screen input system, and has been published many times in the IBM Technical Journal.
Wisgo graduated first in his class with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. He holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma Certifications.
