Maryland MTA Welcomes New Members to Citizens Advisory Committee
The Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has welcomed new members to its Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), which plays a crucial role as the eyes and ears of the public in advising the MTA on its operations.
The MTA is committed to providing safe, efficient and reliable transit across Maryland. To bolster that commitment, the MTA has established the CAC in order to receive and maintain consistent and responsive communications between the MTA and its customers; improve the quality of service from a customer’s point of view; provide for direct input to management about customers’ perception of service; and facilitate inclusion of customer observations into service monitoring and modification.
“The CAC plays a crucial role in advising our three core modes of service, which are Local Bus, Light Rail and Metro Subway in Baltimore as well as our statewide Commuter Bus Service,” said MTA Administration and CEO Paul Comfort. “The new CAC members have a diverse understanding of public transit and will help the MTA continue to improve the service it provides.”
With a goal of enhancing dialogue between the MTA and the CAC, new CAC members have been appointed to provide useful guidance to help improve the MTA’s day-to-day operations:
- Liam F. Davis: Davis is a community liaison in Baltimore City Council President Jack Young’s office. One key area Mr. Davis intends to focus on is how MTA is serving the new employment hub at the Amazon Distribution Center.
- Osh Oshitoye: Oshitoye is a statistics researcher for the Department of Education in Health Data. She will focus on helping the MTA implement technologies for real-time tracking with global positioning system (GPS) data.
- John Mack: Mack is an expert in the field of transportation engineering with over 10 years’ experience. He intends to lend valuable perspective from the private and professional sectors since he has worked with the state on several construction projects.
- Nancy Huggins: Huggins currently serves as a transportation, grants and member services professional for the BWI Business Partnership in Linthicum, Md. She is the new chairperson of the CAC.
- Ron Skotz: Skotz has served in various senior management positions with the Central Maryland Regional Transit Corporation and the Corridor Transportation Corporation for 20 years. He also serves in a leadership capacity with the Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM).
These new members join eight other members in reviewing and providing input on MTA’s long-range service plans and commenting on more routine route and service adjustments from a customer perspective.
