Ron Aitken, a transit professional with more than 35 years of experience, has joined Mott MacDonald as vice president–strategic transit development. Based in Mott MacDonald’s office in Vancouver, British Columbia, Aitken will assist in opening transit opportunities in the US and Canada, drawing on resources from Mott MacDonald’s global transit business.
“We are delighted to have Ron join our rail and transit practice,” said Nick DeNichilo, president and CEO of Mott MacDonald in North America. “As Project Director for the Concession team in Toronto, he helped deliver the Eglinton Crosstown Project, a complex P3 initiative and the biggest light rail transit project in Canadian history.”
Aitken’s career has spanned roles in engineering, vehicle manufacturing, project management, project development, sales, owner’s representative services, and transit system operations and maintenance. He has held executive oversight responsibility for monorail, light rail, and people mover projects, and has a strong background in all elements of transit system delivery.
Aitken has served as Project Director for some of the largest automated driverless transit system projects in the world, including projects in the US, Canada, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
