The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) announced a new incentive pay program to assist with attracting and retaining full-time Service Line employees. The new program will provide over $3,500 in incentive pay to qualified new hires.
Transpo’s Service Line employees are responsible for cleaning, fueling and maintaining vehicles. The position also assists with general building and grounds maintenance.
Qualifications for the position include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, attention to detail and Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Transpo will train and assist qualified candidates in obtaining their CDL.
“We recognize the importance of attracting and retaining qualified candidates,” said David Cangany, Transpo general manager & CEO. “The new incentive pay program for Transpo’s Service Line provides us the opportunity to be more competitive with the overall salary and benefits package while investing in top talent,” continued Cangany.
Transpo will host an Employment Open House on Thursday, January 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Emil “Lucky” Reznik Administration, Maintenance and Operations Facility, located at 1401 S. Lafayette Blvd in South Bend. In addition to the Service Line positions, Transpo is also hiring Access Paratransit Operators and Fixed Route Operators. Qualified candidates are invited to attend the open house, learn about employment opportunities, submit an application and participate in on-site interviews.
