DDOT Introduces New Deputy Director, Chief of Staff

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has announced the appointment of Jeff Marootian as deputy director and Todd McIntyre as chief of staff.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has announced the appointment of Jeff Marootian as deputy director and Todd McIntyre as chief of staff. 

Marootian previously worked at DDOT from 2008-2011 as the Customer Service Officer. He oversaw public engagement activities and managed relationships with ANC Commissioners and other city officials. He now returns to the agency from the U.S. Department of Transportation where he served under Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx from 2013-2017. He was appointed by President Barrack Obama to serve as the White House Liaison from 2013 to 2015 where he worked alongside the heads of the federal regulatory agencies to promote President Barack Obama’s transportation agenda. In 2015, Marootian was promoted to serve as the Department’s Assistant Secretary for Administration. In that capacity, he oversaw the management functions of the 55,000-employee agency, including human resources, facilities, procurement and security. He was also the Department’s Chief Sustainability Officer.

Marootian has both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration from The George Washington University and has lived in the District of Columbia for 20 years.

Todd McIntyre has served as DDOT’s deputy chief of staff since July 2016. McIntyre joined DDOT from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) where he oversaw more than $4 billion in federal funds used for passenger and freight rail infrastructure and liaised with state transportation departments in multiple roles, including regional team lead, regional manager and transportation industry analyst. Before joining FRA, McIntyre served in the Office of the Mayor in Los Angeles, Calif., as a policy analyst for transportation, environment, and infrastructure issues, and as San Mateo County Transit District’s community relations manager, building relations with the San Mateo County Transit District.

McIntyre holds a bachelor’s from Morehouse College and a master’s from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
