Palm Tran has announced the appointment of Cathy Holmes-Lewis as senior manager of human resources. Lewis joined Palm Tran on Monday, April 3, 2017.
As the Senior Manager of Human Resources, Lewis will be responsible for directing, administering, coordinating and evaluating all aspects of the Human Resources Section at Palm Tran. She will be responsible for developing a robust, strategic method of workforce planning and management, as well as managing all aspects of human resources and organizational development for Palm Tran’s 600+ employees.
Lewis is an accomplished human resources professional with over 30 years of experience from Miami-Dade County/Miami-Dade Transit (MDT). MDT is the largest transit system in Florida, providing four modes of transportation with over 3,500 employees. As MDT's chief of labor relations and civil rights, she was responsible for the planning, development and implementation of MDT's Labor Relations and Civil Rights strategic plan and was the chief MDT negotiator for four labor contracts. Lewis spearheaded the development and implementation of strategic employment policies and procedures including an award-winning web-based HR program. She was responsible for programmatic compliance of labor relations, discipline, fair employment practices, disadvantaged business enterprises and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Lewis holds a Master's Degree in Human Resources Management from Saint Thomas University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Fort Valley State University in addition to several other certifications and training in the field.
