Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) has introduced its new Discount Fare Grant program for nonprofits in Stark County. The goal of the grant is to work with community partners to identify those in need of financial assistance for utilizing public transit in Stark County.
To qualify for the grant, applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a budget of less than $5 million and work with individuals that are low-income, to apply for a discount on full fare passes/tickets on a yearly basis. Nonprofits that provide services to help with the opioid epidemic will be given special consideration.
"A lot of smaller non-profits continue to struggle financially, especially those that are fighting the opioid epidemic in our community. This is a way SARTA can help," said Kirt Conrad, SARTA CEO.
Grant applications will be accepted from May 1, 2017 through 4:00pm on May 31, 2017. Applicants will be notified of by July 1, 2017 of award.
