Giro Inc. has announced the appointment of Jean Aubin as the company’s new president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Paul Hamelin, one of Giro’s pioneers, who has been at the helm of the company for more than 10 years. Hamelin will now serve as chairman of the Board of Directors.
“It is with much enthusiasm and pride that I take over the reins of Giro,” Aubin said. “We intend to pursue our growth strategy, which means continuing to anticipate and respond to the evolving needs of our clients,” he added.
Jean Aubin began his career with Giro in 2002, and until now held the role of executive vice-president. He holds a master’s degree in operations research from Université de Montréal and worked for over 15 years in software development, including a decade in the telecommunications sector. He will assume his new duties in July 2017.
As Chairman of the Board, Paul Hamelin will continue to have a hand in Giro’s strategic planning and in relations with clients and the business community. “Giro is a true jewel in the crown of Québec’s new-technologies industry,” he said. “I’m delighted to continue contributing to Giro’s advancement and to expanding its position in our current markets as well as in new ones.” Hamelin will take over from Jean-Marc Rousseau, who has been chairman of the Board of Giro since its inception.
Giro plans to leverage its unique expertise in information systems and applying new technologies to the public transport and postal industries as it expands its international presence. The company has a profound understanding of needs and innovative solutions in these areas of activity, which opens up excellent prospects for the coming years.
