Forty private and public employers will be recruiting and hiring during the collaborative effort known as Veteran Summer Slam Employment Fair to be held on Friday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the L.A. Trade Tech campus, 400 W. Washington Blvd. north tent, Los Angeles, California 90015.

The fair is open to all job seekers and is specially designed to help military veterans make a successful transition to civilian life.

As the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority transit system expands and its current workforce ages, the agency faces the challenge of filling technical positions in management, maintenance and operations. Veterans are a pool of job seekers who as part of their military service have received exceptional leadership and technical skills training that make them uniquely qualified to help fill Metro’s future hiring needs.

This joint undertaking between Metro, 3-Time WNBA Champions L.A. Sparks, Los Angeles Trade Tech College, Southern California Edison, SoCalGas, American Red Cross-Los Angeles Region, Salvation Army HAVEN and the Veterans Advocacy Group of America (VAGA) will provide meaningful opportunities for employment, professional development, networking and access to Veteran Service Organizations (VSO’s) to meet the needs of this underserved population.
