RATP Dev North America and McDonald Transit Associates have announced the appointment of Mike Anderson as the vice president of safety & security.

RATP Dev North America and McDonald Transit Associates have announced the appointment of Mike Anderson as the vice president of safety & security. Anderson will be leading all of RATP Dev North America’s bus and rail safety and security initiatives, continuing to bring standardized models of excellence to all of the organization’s locations of operation. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Anderson will be working hand-in-hand with all of RATP Dev North America’s clients.

“Mike brings years of safety and security management experience from the airline industry, and we are very excited to introduce his expertise into the world of public transit,” said Blaine Rigler president of McDonald Transit and VP of Bus Services, RATP Dev North America. “He is a successful leader with a strong background in technology and operations. Mike will use his extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing Safety Management Systems (SMS) in the bus and rail industry that we proudly serve. Mike is uniquely suited to ensure RATP Dev continues to remain focused on keeping our riders, employees and the general public safe and secure as the transportation systems and technologies evolve.”

Anderson comes to RATP Dev with extensive experience in the airline industry, and has seen the complete evolution of the industry's safety protocols. Although having served in various positions throughout his career, Anderson found his passion for safety and security while working at a regional airline, where he was instrumental in the design and implementation of the airline’s official safety and security program. Anderson moved to a national carrier where he was appointed director of safety and promoted to senior director of safety. Under Anderson’s decade of leadership in that position, the program became a pillar of the company’s values and has proved adaptable to address the industry’s current safety responsibilities.

“I am honored to be joining RATP Dev and to help continue their long history of operational excellence,” said Anderson. “After working with the airlines for most of my career, I am truly excited to experience the overall transit industry, and to help guide the company during this age of innovation. RATP Dev understands the future of public transit, and will set the standards of the industry when it comes to safety & security.”

Anderson will be responsible for directing the safety and security protocols for all of RATP Dev North America’s operations across the country, continuing to evolve the company’s safety and security programs. Additionally, Anderson will be exploring new safety & security protocols to help with the implementation of innovative, new technologies that are expected to enter the public transit industry in the near future.
