Greater Dayton RTA Promotes Daron Brown to Director of Maintenance
The Greater Dayton RTA has announced the promotion of Daron Brown to the position of director of maintenance.
Brown has served as the deputy director for RTA’s maintenance department since 2016. Prior to his recruitment to Dayton, Brown spent more than 26 years in various positions at the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) in Cincinnati, Ohio eventually working his way up to assistant director of fleet and facilities.
Other roles Brown served at SORTA included: diesel mechanic, fleet supervisor, facilities supervisor, facilities manager, fleet manager and quality assurance manager/maintenance superintendent. Brown’s role as assistant director of fleet and facilities for SORTA has prepared him for leading the maintenance department at RTA.
“Daron's years of experience working, mentoring and leading others will provide the leadership needed to take Dayton RTA to next level,” said Chris Cole, chief operating officer at the Greater Dayton RTA.
In his new role, Brown will lead the team that safely maintains more than 250 fixed route buses, paratransit and support vehicles 365 days a year. As Director of Maintenance, Brown will also be responsible for electrical infrastructure, fleet inventory/stores and buildings & grounds, which includes 23 RTA properties.
“He is a tireless leader that brings employees together for their consensus but makes decisions based on their input combined with his experience and leadership“ Cole said.
