The Connect Transit Board of Trustees voted to appoint Interim General Manager Isaac Thorne to permanent general manager of Connect Transit. Thorne replaced former manager Andrew Johnson, who resigned in March for another position with the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District.
“I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to serve Connect Transit and the Bloomington-Normal community. I look forward to working with our great employees on improving the customer experience, as well as building relationships and partnerships in the community.
Thorne joined the Connect Transit staff in 2007 in a dispatcher role and worked his way up to the chief operating officer of Connect Transit in 2014 prior to being appointed the interim general manager in March.
"It became apparent working with Isaac over the few months while he was interim that he was entirely capable of doing the job," said Connect Transit Board Chair Mike McCurdy.
"He will focus on making sure there are ADA-compliant bus stops with shelters across the community, bringing more frequent service to busy routes, and examining fare restructuring," said McCurdy.
