Mark Clendennen Joins HNTB’s Rail Systems Team as Rail Operations Planning Manager

Mark Clendennen joined HNTB Corporation’s national rail systems team as rail operations planning manager. He is based in the firm’s Denver office and works with clients nationwide.

Mark Clendennen joined HNTB Corporation’s national rail systems team as rail operations planning manager. He is based in the firm’s Denver office and works with clients nationwide.

Clendennen has more than 12 years of experience in the railway industry, focusing on commuter and freight, that encompasses a broad range of expertise in railway operations and system integration. He has managed and provided expertise on a variety of railway projects, including commuter rail startup, grade crossings, quiet zones, stations, vehicle maintenance facilities, railroad company coordination, and construction services. Through his extensive project involvement, he also has experience involving preparation of configuration management plans, software management plans, design criteria and standards, railroad company agreements, public outreach, and community design review processes.

Prior to joining HNTB, Clendennen served as a project manager for a railroad contractor in Denver, where his responsibilities included planning comprehensive maintenance programs to promote safety. Prior to that, he served as program manager, rail systems and project management for the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Austin, Texas. In this role, he led Capital Metro’s PTC program, promoting safety, enhancing reliability and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Clendennen studied geology at the University of Texas at Austin.
