Edmond Hunter, CCM, joined HNTB Corporation as a senior transit and rail project manager. Based in the firm’s Chelmsford office, Hunter plays a key role in helping HNTB’s transit and rail clients effectively plan and implement critical programs that provide vital passenger services.

He is recognized for his expertise in managing complex programs that enable transit systems to build infrastructure and operational systems needed to meet growing passenger needs,” said Gary Bua, PE, HNTB’s Massachusetts office leader and vice president. “His executive-level experience in virtually every aspect of rail transportation provides extraordinary value for our team and our clients.”
Hunter joins HNTB with more than 42 years of engineering and construction operations experience. Prior to HNTB, Hunter served as assistant general manager for design and construction with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for more than 10 years, where he was responsible for the overall management of 216 projects with a total value of $11.7 billion. Projects included commuter rail, transit stations, facilities, bridges and tunnels as well as transit operations, transit oriented development, design and architecture, along with oversight of consultants, vendors and contractors. Previously, he was a resident engineer with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation on multiple projects, including the Central Artery Tunnel and the I-93 Tunnel and Aquarium Station modernization, among others.
A graduate of Clarkson University, Hunter holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University. He is a member of the Construction Management Association of America where he holds the designation of Certified Construction Manager, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Boston Society of Engineers.
Hunter has received numerous awards during his career, including the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York 2017 Diamond Award for engineering excellence. He was recognized in 2016 by the Boston Society of Civil Engineers for Personal Government Civil Engineering for his service at the MBTA. He also received the CMAA’s New England Chapter 2016 infrastructure project of the year award (projects less than $100 million) as well as that organization’s 2011 Person of the Year award.
HNTB has been integral in the creation or expansion of major elements of Massachusetts’ transportation infrastructure, including the Leonard P. Zakim Bridge, Massachusetts Turnpike, John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge, South Station, and Fitchburg commuter rail line, among others.
