HNTB Adds Transportation Planning Professionals to Firm’s Operations in Austin and San Antonio

Janelle Carey and Jason Rodriguez have joined HNTB Corporation, enhancing the firm’s transportation planning expertise in Central and South Texas.

“Janelle and Jason are both valuable additions to our team. They each bring experience developing creative and efficient solutions to our clients as they work to improve our region’s multimodal transportation network,” said Michelle Dippel, HNTB Central and South Texas office leader and vice president.  

Carey has 11 years of industry experience, most recently serving as a transportation planner for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System where she completed a range of special projects that involved stakeholder facilitation, public outreach, transit planning, and technical reporting and analysis.

A member of HNTB’s Integrated Planning Services department, Carey works with the Texas Department of Transportation, Capital Metro and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. She is based in the firm’s Austin office.

Carey is an active member of Women’s Transportation Seminar, Heart of Texas Chapter. She earned a Master of City Planning from San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Rodriguez is a senior planner, based in HNTB’s San Antonio office. Prior to joining HNTB, he served as manager of strategic planning at VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio. He has 11 years of experience, specializing in project management, long range planning and corridor mobility analysis, as well as budgeting and scope for large scale programs.

Rodriguez earned a Master of Science in architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University. He also holds professional affiliations with the American Planning Association and Urban Land Institute.

In Central and South Texas, HNTB currently is working on, or has been involved with, some of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects, including serving as both general planning consultant and general engineering consultant for Capital Metro in Austin; planning consultant for TxDOT Transportation Planning and Programming Division; General Engineering Consultant for TxDOT Project Finance, Debt and Strategic Contracts Division in San Antonio; and construction engineering and inspection services for the U.S. 281/Loop 1604 Interchange in San Antonio.
