MARTA Board Confirms Jeffrey Parker as General Manager and Chief Executive Officer

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Board of Directors has voted unanimously to confirm transit executive Jeffrey A. Parker as the Authority’s new general manager and chief executive officer.

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Board of Directors has voted unanimously to confirm transit executive Jeffrey A. Parker as the Authority’s new general manager and chief executive officer. 

“There was remarkable unanimity among the board that Jeff was the right person,” said MARTA Board of Directors Chairman Robert L. Ashe. “His broad knowledge of transit and vision for MARTA make him the perfect fit for the Authority.”

After a months-long nationwide executive search, Parker was named the sole finalist and was confirmed after a state mandated 14-day waiting period. He was most recently vice president at infrastructure and design firm HNTB Corporation’s Atlanta office. Parker is a former MARTA senior director of transportation, working at the agency from 2005 to 2008, and has also led transit operations in Boston and Connecticut.

Parker will begin work next week.
