VTA General Manager/CEO Nuria Fernandez Nominated as Vice Chair of APTA

VTA General Manager and CEO Nuria Fernandez was nominated as vice chair of the American Public Transportation Association.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority General Manager and CEO Nuria Fernandez was nominated as vice chair of the American Public Transportation Association.

APTA members include public transportation agencies, like VTA, companies that plan, design, construct, finance, supply, and operate bus and rail services worldwide, and government agencies, academic institutions, and trade publications.

As Vice Chair, it will be Fernandez’s responsibility to serve APTA in its role to strengthen and improve public transportation, and leads its diverse membership through advocacy, innovation and information sharing. APTA and its members and staff work to ensure that public transportation is available and accessible for all Americans in communities across the country.

Fernandez joins a slate of nominated officers that also includes David M. Stackrow Sr., current APTA vice chair and a board member and past chair of the Capital District Transportation Authority, Albany, New York, nominated as APTA chair; and Freddie C. Fuller II, vice president, electronic payment systems, at Jacobs in Arlington, Virginia, as secretary-treasurer. Current APTA Chair Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., CEO the Jacksonville (Florida) Transportation Authority, will serve as immediate past chair.

APTA members will vote on the 2018-2019 slate of officers during the APTA Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee in late September.
