The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) named Sindy Mondesir as chief people officer, leading COTA’s human resources division into a new era.
Mondesir will share a wealth of knowledge and experience. She comes to COTA from Environmental Design International in the Greater Chicago Area, where she served as the vice president of Human Resources since 2012. She has nearly 25 years of experience developing strong relationships between employees and executives.
“Sindy brings a vision for cultivating human capital, researching trends in technology and creating purpose-driven employee engagement and professional development,” said COTA President/CEO Joanna Pinkerton. “She shares my philosophy that we must invest in people to turn our culture around and I believe Sindy’s eagerness to join COTA is a positive sign we can attract the best talent from around the country.”
Mondesir’s unique title serves as an important reminder of an important mission at COTA.
“We are excited to have Sindy on board as our Chief People Officer,” said COTA Deputy CEO Emille Williams. “The choice of chief people officer as Sindy’s title was intentional, as it signals a new approach to how we do business here at COTA. We are committed to equity and our continued investment in Team COTA internally, as well as our customers in the community.”
Mondesir will lead her team in the development, management and oversight of all personnel programs including recruitment, retention, training and development, organizational design and employee and labor relations.
“I’m being entrusted COTA’s greatest asset – our people,” Mondesir said. “It’s important to me that Human Resources is tied to the incredible vision of respect and fairness that COTA is developing. It matters that COTA is positioned – not only in Columbus – but nationally and internationally as a model for other organizations.”
Mondesir and her husband are working to make Columbus their new home with their four children.
