FTA report shows high performance of OCTA transit operations

The triennial report by the federal agency has “no findings” for improvements.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has reported “no findings” for improvements after completing a triennial review with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).

Every three years, the FTA completes a thorough review of transit operations for compliance with federal requirements and best practices.

The FTA’s conclusion of no findings means that OCTA is operating at the highest level in meeting all federal standards. OCTA says fewer than 10 percent of all agencies reviewed receive a report with no findings.

"The FTA’s conclusions speak highly of the work that is being done by OCTA on an ongoing basis to provide excellent service to Orange County’s transit riders, while keeping their safety as the top priority," said OCTA Chairman Tim Shaw.

OCTA says the review complimented several OCTA programs as among the best they’ve seen in the nation, including in the following areas:

  • Disadvantaged Business Enterprise

  • Vehicle and facility maintenance

  • Procurement

  • ADA appeals process

  • Compliance with Title VI, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color or national origin in any program receiving federal financial assistance.
