Alex Chen has been selected to be the new director of information technology for Omnitrans.
Chen will lead a team of nine employees to prepare Omnitrans for a sustainable digital future including upgrading vehicle equipment and migrating technology resources to cloud-based systems to maximize efficiencies and enhance data security.
“Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and technology experience to this role,” said Interim CEO/General Manager Erin Rogers. “His ability to provide reliable data from multiple internal sources will be a major asset in helping us make important business decisions to better serve our customers.”

Chen began his career at China Petroleum Corporation, Taiwan’s largest state-owned enterprise over 30 years ago. He joined Omnitrans in 2008 as database administrator, and most recently completed his second stint as interim director of information technology.
During his tenure at Omnitrans, Chen has programmed numerous reporting tools in-house that have achieved great cost savings for the agency. He has implemented useful customer tools, including NexTrip and electronic signs for bus arrival predictions in real-time, and served on the San Bernardino Transit Center and sbX bus rapid transit project teams.
Chen is a graduate of National Taiwan University.
