JTA provides complementary rides to healthcare professionals

Healthcare workers need to show a valid employee I.D. for a complimentary ride.

Complimentary rides are being offered by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) to local healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any healthcare professional employed at a hospital, doctor’s office, medical facility or medical laboratory can receive complimentary rides with a valid photo employee I.D.

For the purposes of this service, a healthcare professional includes anyone who delivers care and services to patients, and performs functions that are critical to the continuation and/or maintenance for operational purposes. This would include doctors, nurses, technicians, paramedics and support staff such as helpers, assistants, waste handlers and other functions within a hospital, doctor’s office, medical facility, medical laboratory or emergency clinic.

“Like our JTA bus operators, police and first responders, these medical professionals are part of the frontlines as our community responds to COVID-19,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. “We know these local heroes don’t have a choice to stay home, and this is one way for us to say thank you while continuing to provide our vital transportation services.”

As a reminder, the JTA has limited seating onboard all buses to promote social distancing. Additional measures to ensure a clean and safe environment at JTA facilities are also in place. Service continues to operate on a modified Saturday schedule.
