HDR has promoted Santanu Roy to global transportation planning director.
In his new role, Roy will provide strategic and technical leadership for HDR’s multimodal transportation planning and practice. Working with clients and teams from around the globe, he will help execute projects and drive program performance while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and quality.
Communities and agencies are looking to new forms of mobility that enhance quality of life, resiliency and accessibility. Well-versed in the necessary requirements, Roy will guide tailored solutions that draw from his expertise in all modes of transportation, automated-connected-shared-electrified mobility, complete streets, smart transportation and more.
“This is an exciting time for transport planning—our clients at federal, state and local levels are reimagining the future of transportation, and it brings opportunities for innovation, collaboration and inclusion,” said Roy. “I’m looking forward to working with our amazing colleagues across the company to elevate our transportation planning practice and better serve our clients while making a difference in the communities we call home.”
Roy is equipped with two decades’ experience in long-range visioning, policy and systems planning, data analytics, multimodal planning, project development and integration of planning and technology. With a strong and diverse background, he has led numerous multidisciplinary teams delivering program management contracts, corridor studies, transit projects, freight plans, intermodal/multimodal studies, long-range transportation plans, master plans, toll feasibility studies, managed lane studies, interchange justifications and others around the United States.
He manages several continuing services contracts with the Florida Department of Transportation both at the statewide and district levels in a general consultant capacity. His wide range of technical abilities and familiarity with federal and state transportation policies and procedures allow him to help clients manage complex projects and make informed decisions.
“Santanu continuously demonstrates his genuine dedication to advancing practices in the industry for the benefit of our clients and communities,” said Transportation Planning and Design Director Andy Lauzier. “Leveraging our global expertise, he will help agencies envision, develop and plan custom transportation solutions related to traditional modes and advances in new mobility.”
