IndyGo welcomes Melanie Frazier as director of development
The IndyGo Foundation welcomed Melanie Frazier as its new director of development. In this role, Frazier will create and implement the organization’s fundraising plan.
With more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, Frazier will assist the organization with fulfilling its mission of helping the community thrive by connecting people through accessible, equitable and inclusive mobility solutions.
Frazier’s prior experience includes director of development and RISE campaign manager at the Center for Leadership Development, where she managed annual operations and a $33 million comprehensive campaign. She also managed staff and helped raise funds for the Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center as the organization’s director of philanthropy.
Frazier is a certified fundraising executive (CFRE), one of just 217 African Americans certified out of about 7,000 globally. In 2022, she was awarded the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) Indiana Philanthropy Award for Fundraising Professional of the Year for her professionalism, integrity and commitment to best practices. This award honors those in Indiana who have enhanced philanthropy and the community through their dedicated efforts, time, leadership, passion and generosity.
“We couldn’t be more excited for Melanie to join our team in this pivotal year for our organization,” said IndyGo Foundation Executive Director Emily Meaux. “As the IndyGo Foundation matures with a growing donor base and access to transit remains a high need in the community, leaders like her are necessary to achieve our goals that ultimately benefit everyone in Marion County.”
Frazier earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and a master’s degree in training and development from Roosevelt University in Chicago. In 2018, she completed a certificate in nonprofit executive leadership from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Fund Raising School. Finally, Frazier volunteers on the board of AFP’s Indiana Chapter as the vice president of programs.
