The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and Ogden City have partnered with McWhinney and its local development partner, J. Fisher Co., for the Union Station Campus/UTA Transit-Oriented Development project in downtown Ogden.
McWhinney was a key partner in the historic redevelopment of Union Station in downtown Denver and is a national investment and development firm with mixed-use and placemaking experience found in Colorado, Utah and Texas.
McWhinney and J. Fisher plan to build a comprehensive development team and are exploring the additions of Mortenson, one of the nation’s largest builders with expertise and experience in urban infill redevelopment and adaptive reuse projects, and Design Workshop, an internationally recognized land planner and urban designer with direct experience leading the visionary Downtown Ogden Master Plan, to the team.
Ogden City, UTA, and the Union Station Foundation have collaborated for years toward this culminating project. Their partnership produced the Union Station Project Charter, Station Area Plan Amendment, and Union Station Campus Framework Plan. These documents outline an aggressive and achievable vision for Union Station and the surrounding area. The campus will offer a broad range of commercial uses, with the Union Station Museum serving as the anchor.
“We value our longstanding relationship with Ogden City and the Union Station Foundation,” said UTA Trustee Beth Holbrook. “This exciting vision for Union Station Campus is another example of the innovative value of transit to help connect and revitalize our communities.”
