LTD receives $1.9 million state grant to support its RideSource service
Lane Transit District (LTD) will receive $1.9 million through the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transportation Division (PTD) 5310 Formula Grant Program to support services, vehicles, bus shelters and programs serving the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities.
“The funds LTD receives through the 5310 Formula Grant Program are essential to support transportation programs that benefit older adults and people with disabilities,” said John Ahlen, LTD’s accessible services program manager. “Services such as LTD's RideSource ensure community members who aren't able to access the bus due to a disability have transportation for work, school, health care, recreation and to support independent living. Each year, LTD is able to respond to hundreds of thousands of requests for these services thanks to 5310 funds and the success of our community partnerships."
Last year, LTD provided more than 250,000 trips for RideSource passengers using its fleet of LTD cutaways (small buses), private taxis and medical transport vehicles to provide necessary transportation services for older adults and people with disabilities. Using RideSource, Medicaid recipients traveled more than 2.7 million miles and exceeded225,000 hours of travel.
LTD was one of 38 transit agencies, tribal governments and counties to share in the $25 million available through the PTD’s 5310 Formula Grant Program. The funds will be available to agencies on July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2025.
