CTE to host 11th Zeb Con in San Diego Sept. 26-28
The 11th annual Zero Emission Bus Conference (ZEB Con) will be hosted this year by the Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE). The conference, which is set to take place Sept. 26-28, 2023, in San Diego, Calif., will bring together bus and shuttle fleet managers, industry professionals and climate advocates from around the globe to share knowledge on electrifying public and private transportation fleets.
“It is clear that electric transportation is a primary tool for addressing climate change,” says CTE Development Director Lauren Justice. “We are proud to convene ZEB Con year after year, putting practical resources into the hands of fleets to enable the successful adoption of clean transportation technologies.”
Conference content spans everything from the latest software and support technologies that are enabling charging systems for 100-plus vehicles to best practices for evaluating a site and system for fuel cell electric vehicles.
The conference kicks off with a ZEB 101 course that provides attendees with a foundational understanding of zero-emission vehicle and infrastructure technologies. ZEB Con 2023 also features conversations with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regarding their Research and Innovation support programs. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will review learnings from their Innovative Clean Transit Regulation (ICT) that was implemented in 2018 and requires all of the state’s transit agencies to be 100 percent zero-emission by 2040. Transit agency speakers include AC Transit (Oakland, Calif.), KVB (Cologne, Del), Duluth Transit Authority (Duluth, Minn), Greater Bridgeport Transit (Bridgeport, Conn), KCATA (Kansas City, Mo), Metrobus (Mexico City, Mexico), New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (New York, N.Y.), StarMetro (Tallahassee, Fla), and Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (Washington D.C.), among many others.
In addition to industry-leading educational sessions, ZEB Con will also offer exclusive tours of two local electric bus sites, San Diego Metropolitan Transit System and North County Transit District. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with other transportation professionals at the Happy (Bus) Hour reception, which features the largest all zero-emission display of buses and shuttles in the world.
“I have been attending ZEB Con since 2018 and I have been very happy to witness its annual growth and the united efforts of our industry,” said William Haber, vehicle procurement administrator at King County Metro Transit. “I continually recommend ZEB Con to all of my colleagues.”
