CCTA names Rashida Kamara as manager of Accessibility and Equity Program
Contra Costa Transportation Authority's (CCTA) has named Rashida Kamara as manager of its Accessibility and Equity Program.
“Accessibility and equity are our priorities to advance CCTA’s vision to provide all Contra Costa residents reliable transportation,” said CCTA Chair Federal Glover. “Rashida Kamara is the perfect fit to lead our accessibility and equity initiatives. She’s passionate about community-based service and she brings more than 27 years of experience in accessible transportation and customer service, as well as seniors and disability advocacy.”
Prior to her appointment at CCTA, Kamara was with Central Contra Costa Transit Authority, first serving as manager of accessible services, then promoted to director of ADA and specialized services. Kamara implemented many innovative programs especially during the pandemic. She is widely known in the transportation industry for her collaborative leadership. she spearheaded the One-Seat Ride program, which is built on a partnership among four transit agencies in Contra Costa County. Before her stint at Central Contra Costa Transit Authority, Kamara was the general manager for East Bay Paratransit (operated by Transdev North America) and director of Transit Logic Consulting Services.
Kamara is also recognized as a subject matter expert in the transportation industry due to her deep understanding of legal and operational best practices related to providing accessible transportation services to seniors and persons with disabilities.
