Mass Transit's most read safety and security stories in 2023 covered bolstering physical infrastructure, boosting uniformed staff presence and touched on cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
To support the reopening, the CTA outlined several interim safety enhancements on the Yellow Line, including reduced speeds, track cleaning, enhanced operations communications and supervised operations.
BART is upgrading its fare gates for the first time in 20 years as part of its Safe and Clean Plan and has committed to opening 700-plus new fare gates systemwide by the end of 2025.
The Request for Information is the first phase of a multi-step procurement process to modernize the fare gates in the New York City subway system that will help enhance accessibility for people with disabilities and people utilizing strollers and improving the overall customer experience.
This safety barrier program highlights the Maryland Transit Administration’s commitment to continuous improvement as one of its core values.
