Line 2 will extend south from Bayview Station all the way to Limebank Station in Riverside South while Line 4 will introduce a direct link from South Keys Station to the Ottawa International Airport.
As general engineering consultant, STV will provide roadway, track, water resources, systems, traffic, landscaping, architecture, structural and utility design and oversight for the 14-mile light-rail transit corridor.
Once tunneling is complete, the launch shaft will be repurposed as a tunnel portal where Ontario Line trains will transition from above to below ground.
The current 30-year-old Line 2 trains are nearing the end of their expected life, which would significantly increase costs to maintain safety if they continue in operation.
