As part of WMATA’s initiative to give customers real-time arrival bus information, solar-powered, Connectpoint Digital Bus Stops have been deployed along Columbia Pike, one of Metro’s busiest transit service lines and other locations. In addition to real-time bus information, customized alert messaging is available so riders can adjust their journey quickly and make smart choices based on the easy-to-read, ePaper Digital Bus Stops mounted at the following bus stops:
- Columbia Pike at Four Mile Run Drive, S. George Mason Drive, S. Oakland Street, S. Barton Street, S. Courthouse Road, S. Veitch Street, Barton Street, S. Walter Reed Drive, Oakland Street West, S. George Mason Drive, S. Greenbrier Street, Glebe Road, Carlin Springs Road, Maplewood Drive, Medford Drive, Woodland Road, Carlin Springs Road and S. Greenbriar Street.
- Glen Carlyn Drive & Vista Drive
- John Marr Drive & Annandale Center Drive
“We are always looking at ways to improve customer experience and through Connectpoint’s ePaper Digital Bus Stops we can now broadcast a variety of content including next departure, service alerts, maps and custom messages,” said Metro senior program manager, Scottie Borders. “Not only will this be a better experience for our riders, these Digital Bus Stops have low power requirements and allow us to power signs without a connection to the grid.”
