Azur makes Montreal Debut as STM Takes Delivery of First Prototype Train
The Société de Transport de Montréal welcomed the arrival of the first Azur métro car, delivered by the Consortium Bombardier-Alstom (CBA). Once the train has been fully assembled, the CBA and STM teams will perform static, dynamic and qualification tests up to an eight-month period. The testing will be carried out first at the Youville shops and then on a track linking the maintenance shop to the main network. The cars will then gradually be commissioned throughout the network during the night time.

CHK America Premiers Interactive Touchscreen Transit Kiosk
CHK America is debuted its new interactive touchscreen transit kiosk, ConnectPoint at the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District’s transit center.
The Web-enabled kiosk provides trip planning tools that include directions for transit, cars, bicycling and walking. It even allows customers to enter their email or mobile phone number to receive trip planning directions directly.

Bombardier Partner CSR Puzhen Presents First Low-Floor Tram for China
The roll-out for the first tram produced under a 10-year-license agreement between Bombardier Transportation and CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Co. Ltd. (CSR Puzhen) was held at the Nanjing manufacturing site of CSR Puzhen.
Bombardier partner CSR Puzhen won an order for 18 low-floor trams for the city of Suzhou and is building the trams based on Bombardier's Flexity 2 technology. Bombardier has developed the vehicle design, provides training and delivers on-site support.

Cloud-Based Web Solution For Automatic Rail Monitoring
OEM Technology Solutions is offering cloud-based Web monitoring to streamline rail asset utilization and incident management. The system is based on OEM’s PC3 Series Controller into which has been integrated the company’s IO3640 Communications module which has GPS and 3G capability, enabling information to be transmitted via an Etherios Device Connector.
Utilising Device Cloud by Etherios, a platform-as-a-service that provides two-way communication between any device and the cloud, the various OEM connected train systems constantly stream their status via the Web without human intervention.

Cummins QSK19-R to Power Nippon Sharyo DMU Train
Cummins Inc. announced that the Tier 4 Final-compliant QSK19-R railcar engine will power the new Nippon Sharyo diesel multiple unit train designed for transit and commuter services in North America.
Contracts have been awarded to Nippon Sharyo U.S.A./Sumitomo Corp. of America for 32 railcars, configured as either two- or three-car DMU sets with the 760 hp (567 kW)-rated engine installed underfloor in each railcar.
The first Nippon Sharyo DMU is scheduled for delivery in 2014 with a fleet of 18 railcars to be operated by GO Transit and another 14 railcars will be delivered to the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit running on a line currently under construction.

Denver RTD Transit Police Division to Improve Transit System Safety
Panasonic System Communications Co. of North America has partnered with the Denver Regional Transportation District Transit Police Division to develop and deploy an integrated transit security solution built on a foundation of Panasonic i-Pro network cameras. The new solution is replacing RTD’s aging analog-based system.
It leverages Nice Systems NiceVision IP video management software and the Nice Inform platform to view and manage video files, and integrate them with various other video and audio sources and case files to create a unified event timeline.
