L.A. Metro to suspend weekend service on C Line (Green) between Hawthorne/Lennox and Redondo Beach Stations

April 29, 2020
Service will be suspended between the stations for three weekends, with the first weekend shutdown scheduled for May 1.

Service on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) C Line (Green) will be suspended between Hawthorne/Lennox and Redondo Beach Stations for three weekends beginning May 1, May 15 and June 19.

The service suspension allows for construction work to connect with the future Crenshaw/LAX Line. Construction work is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. each Friday night and conclude by 12:00 a.m. each Monday morning.

L.A. Metro will provide a free bus shuttle service to the following rail stations that will be out of service: Hawthorne/Lennox, Aviation/LAX, Mariposa, El Segundo, Douglas and Redondo Beach stations.

Shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and every 20 minutes at other times. L.A. Metro recommends passengers plan for extra time during their commute. Regular C Line rail service will continue between Norwalk and Hawthorne/Lennox stations, where passengers will transfer to bus shuttles to continue their trip.

The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project is an 8.5-mile light-rail line with eight new stations that will serve the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX communities. An additional station is currently under construction at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street where Crenshaw/LAX Line and C Line (Green) riders will be able to transfer to the LAX Automated People Mover to access airport terminals.

For those planning to go to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the LAX Shuttle G operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will continue to run its regular service from its usual stop at Aviation/LAX Station. Other options to LAX include L.A. Metro Lines 102, 111, 117 and 232.
