Dewberry awarded construction management contract for VRE improvements
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has selected Dewberry to provide construction management services for the railway’s Quantico Station Improvements project.
This public infrastructure project is one of many VRE planned enhancements for its existing 19 stations throughout Virginia.
The station is in the town of Quantico and adjacent to the U.S. Marine Base Quantico. This project was commissioned to integrate with the ongoing Arkendale to Powell’s Creek third track project, which is being implemented by CSX Transportation and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. VRE’s Quantico Station Improvement project will increase operational efficiency by lengthening existing platforms and adding an island platform for access to the additional tracks. Project stakeholders include the Federal Railroad Administration, Marine Corps Base Quantico, town of Quantico and Prince William County.
Dewberry will assist VRE by providing CM services during all phases of the project. Preconstruction activities include permit coordination, bid evaluation, constructability reviews and establishment of a project controls system. During construction, Dewberry will act as an on-site representative of VRE, monitoring all construction and contractor activities for quality and contract compliance. Additionally, Dewberry will monitor construction progress and payments and will collect and maintain project records.
