Metrolinx Crosstown LRT breaks through to connect Cedarvale Station with Eglinton West TTC Station
Metrolinx’s Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) construction project is making progress with creating connections to transit lines and where customers will soon pay for their rides.
Here’s where the project is at.
Cedarvale
Workers at Cedarvale Station recently smashed through a concrete slab that separated the pedestrian tunnels connecting Cedarvale Station to Eglinton West Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Station. After installing the steel that will support the opening, the team will move on to tiling and ceiling panel works.
Mount Dennis
Tiling has been completed at the concourse ticket booth at Mount Dennis Station. It’s looking much closer to what customers will see as they trek through daily.
At grade
Improvements along Eglinton aren’t limited to the guideway only – sidewalks all along the surface section are getting an upgrade, including a stretch of Wynford Drive.
Earlier this year the at-grade team removed a portion of the retaining wall on the southwest side of the CP bridge. Now the retaining wall has been reinstated. Next up: the crew will continue widening the portion of Eglinton Avenue East adjacent to the wall.
When complete, the Crosstown will link to 54 bus routes, three TTC subway stations and GO lines, providing important transit connections to get people to where they need to go faster than ever before.
