Nov. 21, 2018

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has awarded a seven-year, $133-million contract to RailWorks Corp., to perform upgrades along the agency’s rail network.

RailWorks anticipates work to begin in the spring 2019 and will include rail track improvements across MARTA’s entire 122-mile network including tie replacements, running rail replacements, direct fixation fastener replacements, special trackwork units and yard improvements. The project is scheduled for final completion in 2025.

“Our work with MARTA is a partnership in the truest sense of the word. MARTA is committed to providing safe and effective transport to its customers, and RailWorks is here to support those goals with this safe and successful project that will keep MARTA’s system among the most innovative in the country,” said Kevin Riddett, RailWorks CEO.

RailWorks says it will tap into experienced construction employment professionals in the Atlanta area and is looking to hire skilled workers in construction, welding and project management.
