Czech: Skanska Wins EUR 153M Contract to Extend Prague Underground Train Network

Swedish construction and civil engineering company Skanska has won a CZK 3.7bn (EUR 153mn) contract to extend the Prague underground train system, the company said in a statement on its website. Under the contract, awarded by the Department of Public Transportation in the City of Prague, Skanska will build the energy installations and equip the underground system with air-conditioning, low voltage and communication system. The Prague A metro line will be extended with four more stations, or about six kilometres.

Works on the contract are scheduled to be completed by the autumn of 2014. Skanska' s Czech unit is the country's largest construction company with sales of about SEK 1bn in 2010 and 5,600 employees in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Skanska is also active in the Czech Republic in the development of office buildings through Skanska Commercial Development Europe.
