TÜV Rheinland Acquires Rail Safety Consulting
TÜV Rheinland Rail Sciences, a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland in North America, has acquired Rail Safety Consulting (RSC), a company specializing in addressing the safety needs and regulations affecting modern electronic-based train control and signal systems. TÜV Rheinland expands the scope of its services in signaling and safety consulting, particularly in Positive Train Control (PTC) and Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC)
RSC contains the largest body of recognized experts averaging more than 20 years of experience in the field of rail transportation safety in North America. They have experience with all facets of assuring safety, from basic safety analysis to defining and managing entire system safety programs, with particular expertise in processor-based products and systems. The RSC system safety engineers have been active contributors to the Federal Railroad Administration Railroad Safety Advisory Committee Working Group for PTC since 1997.
"Joining forces with RSC allows us to provide a more complete set of rail safety consulting services globally," said Dr.-Ing. Manfred Bayerlein, chief executive officer of TÜV Rheinland.
Stephan Schmitt, chief international officer of TÜV Rheinland, stated: "As a single brand, we will be able to leverage the international safety accreditation services of TÜV Rheinland to better fulfill the demands of our international customers."
