Federal Railroad Administrator (FRA) Joseph C. Szabo will join Congressman Jim McDermott, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and Washington State Department of Transportation Secretary Paula J. Hammond at Seattle’s King Street Station on Thursday, March 15 at 12:30 p.m. PDT to celebrate the beginning of the Pacific Northwest Passenger Rail Corridor construction project. The project will offer residents throughout the region more transportation options, reduce congestion and improve the environment.
The project received $814 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s High-Speed and Intercity Passenger Rail Program, which will pay for rail development projects that will increase capacity and reliability on one of America’s most expanded intercity passenger rail routes that runs between Vancouver, BC and Eugene, Ore.
