Bombardier Showcases High Speed Rail Technology at the First International Rolling Stock Symposium in Thailand
Bombardier Transportation is a lead participant in the first International Symposium on Rolling Stock to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 16 to 17.
Hosted by Kasetsart University (KU), the symposium will be opened by Dr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Thailand’s minister of transportation, and professor Vudtechai Kapilakanjana, president of Kasetsart University. Alongside the university’s technical experts as well as other major suppliers from across the region, Bombardier will present its most advanced vehicles and rail control solutions for mainline and high speed applications. In addition, Bombardier will share experiences in delivering effective solutions across the Asia region.
Bombardier’s participation will include presentations and workshops on its ZEFIRO very high speed train technology and Bombardier ECO4 technologies, which combine the world’s fastest rail speeds with groundbreaking aerodynamic and environmental performance. In addition, Bombardier INTERFLO mainline signalling solutions will be highlighted, including operational experience drawn from delivery of its technology for the highest speed operations in China.
Involvement in the event, organised by the KU faculty of engineering strengthens Bombardier’s support for the development of rail technology expertise in Thailand and Asia and its partnership with KU. This follows the signing of a five-year agreement with KU in January 2013 to provide rail engineering expertise to students and instructors, including developing and delivering lectures as part of signalling and train control courses. Members of the faculty will also cooperate with Bombardier on all aspects of signalling and train control technology as advisors and consultants.
“This is an important event to promote discussion around the development of the rail industry and provides participants with a valuable opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field,”said Gregory Enjalbert, head of Asia, Australasia and Middle East, rail control solutions, Bombardier Transportation. “Developing the rail infrastructure, including high speed links, in Thailand and Asia is a high priority and Bombardier’s state-of-the-art technology and experience will enable us to contribute to this development.”
