Parsons announced the International Partnering Institute (IPI) selected the Utah Transit Authority’s (UTA’s) FrontRunner South commuter rail project as the winner of a 2013 Ruby Level Partnered Project of the Year Award—the second highest level—at the 4th Annual IPI Awards Ceremony on May 16, in San Francisco.
The Partnered Project of the Year Awards recognize projects with design and construction teams who distinguish themselves by implementing IPI’s best practices for an integrated partnering program and exemplify high-trust working relationships on their projects.
Parsons led the design team for the 45-mi, state-of-the-art system, which consists of more than 50 mi of track, 40 road crossings, and 30 bridges. The multimillion-dollar project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget and required close collaboration between the UTA, Commuter Rail Constructors (a joint venture between Stacy and Witbeck Inc. and Herzog Contracting Corporation), numerous construction subcontractors, the design team, surrounding communities, and other stakeholders.
