Mario Medina has been named senior area manager in the Austin, Texas office of Parsons Brinckerhoff.
In his new position, Medina will manage the operations of the Austin, Texas office, which includes 30 employees responsible for the development of infrastructure design and transportation planning projects.
Medina comes to Parsons Brinckerhoff following a 28-year career with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), most recently serving as San Antonio District engineer. In that position he was responsible for managing the office and providing engineering oversight for all operations, including transportation planning, right-of-way, design, construction, inspection, maintenance, toll road operations, safety, rail planning, building facilities, and environmental functions, as well as administrative and support activities including procurement, accounting, budgeting, and consultant services.
Prior to becoming a district engineer, he was director of the multimodal section of TxDOT’s Transportation Planning and Programming Division, overseeing the department's planning for rail, rail safety program, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, intermodal facilities, and pedestrian/bike facilities. He also assisted TxDOT border districts with the development of several intermodal/multimodal projects such as the Brownsville railroad relocation project.
Medina received a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Texas in Austin and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas.
