CA: Join Metro for Speed Dating on the Red Line this Valentine’s Day
Many people have stories of finding love via transit. Bumping into someone on a crowded bus and suddenly hitting it off. Running into the same person while waiting for the train and finally working up the courage to say hello. Sometimes these things happen organically. Sometimes you need a little help from your friends at Metro. This Valentine’s Day – Feb. 14 – Metro will host lunch-time Speed Dating on the Red Line for those hoping to meet that special someone while in transit.
Speed Dating on the Red Line will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. Metro staff will be at seven Red Line stations to register speed daters: Union Station, Civic Center/Grand Park, 7th Street/Metro, Wilshire/Vermont, Vermont/Santa Monica, Hollywood/Highland and North Hollywood. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. Upon signing in, speed daters will receive a wristband to indicate participation.
Every Red Line train between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. will have one decorated Speed Dating Train Car for registered participants. The designated Speed Dating Train Car will be the last car on trains heading to North Hollywood and the first car on trains heading towards Union Station. Once on board, Metro staff will explain the event guidelines for participants. Participants will be able to board any Speed Dating Train Car during the event.
Two Metro Cupids also will be riding the Red Line during the event. All who take photos with the Metro Cupids are encouraged to share their encounters via social media – and they can enter their photos in the LoveMetroLA Instagram photo contest if they meet the contest requirements.
