NC: Lyle Overcash, PE, and Bill Martin, PE, Take On New Leadership Positions at VHB
VHB’s expanded operation in North Carolina is providing new opportunities for growth in the region. Lyle Overcash, PE, has been promoted to the position of managing director of the Raleigh office. Overcash succeeds Bill Martin, PE, who is taking on the role of Mid-Atlantic transit and rail director.
Overcash and Martin joined VHB in April 2013 as part of the acquisition of Martin/Alexiou/Bryson, P.C. As Managing Director, Overcash will oversee office operations in Raleigh as VHB continues to grow to better serve its clients. “VHB’s Raleigh office consists of a remarkable group of transportation professionals and I feel fortunate to take on the role of Managing Director,” said Overcash.
Overcash has an extensive background in regional and metropolitan transportation planning, traffic operations, traffic calming, functional design, signal design, and traffic impact analysis. Prior to joining M/A/B in 2000, he worked with the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) in Virginia.
In Martin’s role as Mid-Atlantic transit and rail director, his focus will be to grow the practice across the region. “Since joining with VHB, we’ve been able to draw from each other’s talents to provide greater success for our clients. In my new role, I’ll be able to do just that – provide sustainable transportation solutions to the growing transit markets throughout North Carolina and Virginia,” explains Martin.
Martin began his career with the FHWA in the Office of Highway Planning/Urban Planning Division in Washington, D.C. where he provided technical assistance and training to state and local governments on urban transportation planning methods and techniques. A founding partner of M/A/B, he has 35 years of experience in transportation planning and engineering. He manages complex, multimodal transporation studies at the regional and corridor levels and is a national expert in travel demand analysis and forecasting. Martin served as VHB’s project manager for the Triangle Regional Transit Program that prepared an alternative analysis for three rail corridors in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region of North Carolina (VHB is a subconsultant on this project), and he is currently leading VHB’s efforts on the Durham-Orange LRT preliminary engineering study.
