Slovenia promotes a strategic railway development
Slovenia has launched the Strategic Railway Development Program, which runs until 2023. It is a large plan which aims to modernize existing infrastructure corridors V and X of the Trans European Railway Network. These two initiatives are hogging most of the investment, which will be allocated to the Ljubljana - Divaca line (part of the European Corridor V covering the route Lyon-Trieste-Divaca/Koper-Divaca-Liubliana-Budapest) to the Italian border.
In addition to continuing the electrification and doubling of track works, Slovenia plans to increase freight capacity across the rail network and the modernization of the signalling equipment, among others.
