Perpetuum has announced that Justin Southcombe has joined the company as commercial director. He has spent 18 years in the railway sector with Alstom Transport, where he held senior roles in strategy, tenders and operations.
“Remote condition monitoring is changing the face of maintenance in the rail sector,” Southcombe said. “Perpetuum’s focus on data-driven information services is a key competitive advantage in this market.”
As strategy director for the rolling stock services business, he launched the TrainTracer remote condition monitoring service and significantly expanded its associated R&D program. The service was rolled out throughout the world notably in the U.K., France and North America.
In recent years Southcombe moved to the railway infrastructure business, successfully negotiating contracts with clients in Dubai, Morocco and France while leading the maintenance tendering team in Paris. Last year he successfully tendered two national electrification contracts for ABC Electrification in the UK and a new innovative product trial for London Underground.
He holds a BEng (honours) in mechanical engineering from the University of Surrey, an MBA from INSEAD and is a chartered engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is also a STEM ambassador working with local schools to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Justin is married and lives with his wife and son outside London, U.K.
