Liebherr-Transportation Systems was recently selected by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. to deliver anti-buckling systems for low-floor trams.
The hydraulic system fulfils a safety-critical function: It guarantees that the specified clearance is maintained at all times while the tram is in operation. It substantially improves ride comfort and reduces wear on the wheels, as the position of the bogies is simultaneously controlled by a common hydraulic system. Liebherr is responsible for the complete system, which includes hydraulic actuators and an associated BK 3 electronic controller.
A prototype vehicle has already been equipped with an anti-buckling system and will be tested until the end of the year. After the trial phase, the series production of the low-floor trams will start in Zhuzhou. In the future, this type of tram will also be operated in other medium-sized and larger cities in China.
The new contract of Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. highlights the competitiveness of the solutions Liebherr-Transportation Systems offers in the field of hydraulic actuation for rail vehicles in China.
