Germany: InnoTrans 2014: Exhibitor Numbers and International Participation Reach New Heights
InnoTrans: the fair that stimulates, brings together markets and gathers the global rail industry in Berlin. On Sept. 23, when the leading international trade fair for transport technology opens its doors, more than 2,700 exhibitors from 51 countries will be showcasing their railway technology innovations, more than in any other year. Furthermore, international participation has reached new heights and risen to almost 60 per cent, an increase of three per cent compared to the last event.
Even more exhibitors from Asia and America
This year, for the first time, participation by non-European exhibitors has reached 17 per cent, with Asia and North and South America reporting the highest growth rates. Thus, exhibitor numbers from Asia have risen by 34 per cent and the floor space they are occupying by an overall 20 per cent. In particular, China, India and Taiwan will be represented on significantly larger display areas at InnoTrans 2014.
The U.S. rail industry has also expanded its display area in Berlin. Exhibitor numbers have risen by 64 per cent and floor space by almost 20 per cent. Compared to the last event the combined US display has doubled in size. At InnoTrans South American companies will be exhibiting their products on a display area that has grown by an overall 70 per cent. Exhibitor numbers from Africa and Australia remain stable.
The large majority of exhibitors represented at InnoTrans are from Europe's key markets. Germany, Italy and France are the countries most strongly represented. Portugal, Hungary, Romania, as well as Ireland and Turkey have all made a big impression with display area increases of more than 50 per cent. Thus, for the first time, Turkey is one of the nations whose display area is among the ten largest at the fair.
International participation in every segment of the fair
In addition to leading vehicle and systems manufacturers such as Alstom, Bombardier and Siemens numerous international suppliers and rail companies as well as 34 industrial associations from 19 countries will be present at InnoTrans 2014. Furthermore, service providers and leading research institutions from Germany and abroad will be among the exhibitors at this year’s event.
