The second annual Michigan Rail Conference will be held Aug. 26 and 27 at Macomb Community College's John Lewis Center in Warren.
MDOT is partnering with Michigan colleges, the railroad industry and others to organize the event. The conference will feature a technical program from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Aug. 26, and field trips from 7:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 27. This year's focus is developing ideas, policies and workforce to grow Michigan's economy by rail.
Keynote speaker will be Tony Hatch, consultant with ABH Consulting. Hatch has been a senior transportation analyst on Wall Street for more than 20 years, and has worked with many major railroads and organizations, including Norfolk Southern, Canadian National, CSX, Union Pacific, BNSF, Kansas City Southern, Association of American Railroads, and the United Transportation Union.
