On Dec. 9, the city of Cincinnati introduced the new branding system for the Cincinnati Streetcar, which is slated to begin operation in September 2016.
Using the vehicle design and color palette already finalized by the city of Cincinnati, Kolar developed a branding system that includes the logo and guidelines for applying the brand identity on vehicles, signs, stations, operators’ uniforms, website, and printed materials. The logo, which is owned by the city of Cincinnati, is in the process of being trademarked.
New, limited-edition Cincinnati Streetcar “Founders’ Club” cards featuring the new branding were also unveiled. The cards will be good for rides on the Cincinnati Streetcar when operations begin in 2016.
In May, Metro sent a request for proposals to more than 100 firms interested in branding the Cincinnati Streetcar. A team composed of City of Cincinnati and Metro representatives reviewed 18 proposals and selected Cincinnati-based Kolar Design.
The $25,000 cost for the streetcar branding work was paid by Federal funds dedicated to the Cincinnati Streetcar. This work is part of the development of the project and is within budget.
